Glamorgan Researcher Nominated for Media Award
Kick into Reading, a documentary made by Boomerang TV for BBC Wales last year, which focused on the work of Pat Ryan, has been shortlisted for an award at the Celtic Media Festival to be held in Northern Ireland in April.
The programme follows Pat, a Research Fellow at The George Ewart Evans Centre for Storytelling, as he works with apprentices and coaches from Cardiff City FC to train them to tell stories to school children in local libraries, as part of the Kick into Reading programme that Pat has been running in association with the National Literacy Trust and professional football clubs for a number of years. The programme also focuses on three iconic building projects in Cardiff – the new Cardiff City Stadium, the new Central Library and ATRiuM, home of the Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries, where the storytelling centre is based.
